Southwood student grabs silver in SudburySUDBURY — Southwood’s Madalitso Mchaina was just seconds from striking gold on the opening day of the OFSAA track and field championship. Brissett, from Mississauga Loyola, jumped 13.37 metres on the penultimate jump of the midget boys triple jump competition to edge Mchaina, who had earlier clocked in with 13.11 metres. Mchaina had one final shot at winning gold with the final jump of Fridays’ event, but could only manage a 12.94-metre effort. “I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed when it happened,” said Mchaina. “I just couldn’t concentrate on what I was supposed to do after that . . . and that never happens. I just wasn’t in the right state of mind. “But I’m pleased with the silver. I am going to leave here with something that is heavy.” Read the full article at: www.therecord.com
